MONTHLY MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: From your Pastor…At a crossing… We find
ourselves these days as a community of faith at a crossing… Within the next six to eight weeks we’ll
begin the process of moving our daily ministries into our newly renovated
spaces. It will be a transition that’s for sure, a
long awaited one. The campus of Hope has
truly been and continues to be renewed.
I am thankful for you, our ministry leaders, and our staff as together
we have endured construction and all the unexpected things construction has
brought. Soon, we’ll be all in…and how
exciting that will be. In the next few weeks, the Transition team
will begin their work transitioning our governance and ministry structure from
a committee-based system to a team- based system, rooted in developing and
nurturing discipleship as a foundation to carrying out our ministries. Things are going to be crazy fun as we make
this shift in order to serve both the community and the world in a better and
more nimble way. The Strategic Planning team is already
beginning their work in laying the foundation of a third updating and revision
to our strategic plan that has guided our ministry and community of faith since
May 17, 2009. Much has been
accomplished. Lives have been changed
and transformed by and with hope. Much
more remains to be done. God continues
to guide this community as we move forward a day at a time. As we stand as the threshold of Lent, we find
ourselves and Jesus at a crossing too.
Our Lenten Theme and Study for 2012, ‘Making Sense of the Cross’ will
lead us deep into the meaning of the cross in each of our lives, perhaps giving
shape and light to the crossings we face each and every day – as people of
faith, and as a community of faith. It
promises to be a moving time for each of our journeys into God’s grace. So as we find ourselves at a crossing, let us
remember the first words we sing of Lent…that whatever crossing, we find
ourselves, ‘beneath the cross of Jesus.’
I am blessed to be on this journey of faith
and journey of crossings with you. See
you in worship soon. PScott + PScott will be on vacation
from Wednesday, February 8 through Monday, February 20. Pr. Dee Watson will be preaching and on call
for all pastoral emergencies. Pr. Dee’s
contact information will be on PScott’s voice mail. Pr. Scott's Blog can be found at PScott's Blog | ||
