Blessed be the Memory

Cleone R. Nelson

January 6, 1937 - August 15, 2025

Cleone R. Nelson, our baptized sister in Christ, claimed the promise of her baptism yesterday, August 15, 2025 due to complications from surgery after a recent fall.

Cleone Nelson, beloved child of God

Cleone and Rich joined LCHope in 1978 and had moved to the Western Slope in 2021 to be closer to family. PScott spoke with Cleone's husband, Rich, earlier this morning offering prayers of comfort, remembrance, and thanksgiving for the gift that Cleone was to Rich and to us.

Cleone was one of the original ladies of 'The Lutheran Hour' on Thursday mornings at McDonald's.

Cleone's liturgy will be at their church on the Western Slope and later this fall PScott will preside at her committal rite in the Denver area.

This weekend, the Valley of Hope Spire will toll 88 times announcing Cleone's death the community.

We surround Cleone's family with the words of Jesus in John's Gospel, "I am the resurrection and the life." We claim those words in our baptism, as we are baptized into Christ's death and resurrection, meaning we too, along with Cleone will indeed live a new life in the day of resurrection.

We give thanks to God for the gift Cleone was to us. Blessed be the Memory of Cleone R. Nelson.

"Rest eternal grant her, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon her."
