Blessed be the Memory
Janice Elaine Haugen (nee Rhebb)
March 8, 1931 โ September 3, 2025
Our dear sister in Christ, Janice Elaine Haugen claimed the promise of her baptism earlier today in Wichita, Kansas, after suffering seizures over this past weekend, surrounded by son and daughter-in-law Robert and Char. Janice had moved to Salina, Kansas in the fall of 2023 where son Robert and Char could care for her. Janice has been a member of LCHope since 1982 and was a long-time member of the Chancel Choir Soprano Section.
Janice Elaine Haugen, beloved child of God
The hospital chaplain in Wichita walked with Janice, Robert, and Char in the last hours, and PScott said prayers shortly after death over the phone with Robert and Char. We surround the Haugen family with our thoughts, prayers, and words from the 23rd Psalm, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall not fear, for God, our Shepherd, walks with us, protecting us, and leading us. Janice now rests from her labors in the halls of the saints in the church triumphant, including husband Jim, who claimed his baptismal promise in 2019.
The Valley of Hope Spire will toll 94 times Thursday morning announcing Janiceโs death to the greater community.
The community will gather on Thursday, October 2nd for Janiceโs Liturgy of Resurrection at Lutheran Church of Hope with inurnment to follow in the LCHope Columbarium. The time of the liturgy will be announced as details are finalized.
We surround the Haugen family, proclaiming the resurrection promise, and the life of the world to come.
Blessed be the Memory of Janice Elaine Haugen.
"Rest eternal grant her, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon her."
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
