Blessed be the Memory
Gale Ellen Nelson (nee Spillane)
November 26, 1953 β October 6, 2025
Early this morning, our sister in Christ, Gale Ellen Nelson claimed the promise of her baptism after a journey with cancer. She was surrounded by her daughter Kim and husband Roger at the time of death. All weekend, Galeβs family were present with her. PScott anointed Gale with the commendation of the dying rite on Sunday morning after worship.
Gale Nelson, beloved child of God
Shortly after her death, the church gathered with Roger and Kim as PScott offered prayers of consolation and the singing of the Nunc Dimittis. Roger gives thanks for the ministry of the LCHope Cancer Care Support Ministry for both Gale and himself.
Married at LCHope by Pastor Penny Walsh in 1993, Roger and Gale had spent the last several winters in Sun City, Arizona with spring and summers spent here in Colorado. Gale enjoyed quilting as well as stained glass and was retired from management in retail printing/photo departments.
As Gale now rests from her labors, we hear the words of Jesus spoken in Matthewβs Gospel, βCome unto me, all who are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.β We hold these words for Roger and Galeβs family β surrounding them with our love and prayers knowing that God walks with all the grieving and heavy in heart β while holding and claiming the resurrection promise to come.
The Valley of Hope Spire will toll 71 times today announcing Galeβs death the to greater community. Galeβs Liturgy of Resurrection will be planned for here at LCHope and as soon as date and time are confirmed will be announced through the Anchor News.
We give thanks for the life and witness of Gale Ellen Nelson with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection, which is indeed the steadfast anchor of our souls and lives.
Blessed be the Memory of Gale Ellen Nelson.
"Rest eternal grant her, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon her."
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
