Blessed be the Memory
Ross Delwin Hesebeck
February 14, 1962 – December 6, 2025
Ross Delwin Hesebeck, our brother in Christ, claimed the promise of his baptism early this morning after a journey with brain cancer. Ross has now joined his daughter Crystal and all the saints in the church triumphant.
Ross Delwin Hesebeck, beloved child of God
The church gathered with Leisa, Ross’s wife, and son Ryan on Saturday morning as PScott offered prayer and the singing of the Nunc Dimittis, as well as presiding at the rite of Commendation of the Dying on Friday morning. There was never a project around LCHope Ross would say no to; from patching holes and repairing things, to building platforms, trimming out doors, and the like. Ross was a major construction crew leader in the Renewing Hope building project in 2011-12. Additionally, Ross offered his gifts to many of LCHope members in their home remodels, renovations, and repairs. He was a gifted carpenter and construction leader.
We claim words from Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 8 this day – being reminded that nothing shall separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Not cancer, not suffering, not even death itself. We take comfort knowing that God is indeed our shepherd who walks along side of us through these hard moments and days and holding the Christ-light for us in the midst of darkness. And the darkness will never overcome God’s light in our lives. We surround Leisa and Ryan along with Ross’ family and friends with this very hope, which is indeed the steadfast anchor of our souls.
The Valley of Hope Spire has tolled 63 times today announcing Ross’ death to the greater community. Ross’ Liturgy of Resurrection will take place after the new calendar year begins sometime in January. We give thanks to God for the gift Ross was to us.
Blessed be the Memory of Ross Delwin Hesebeck
"Rest eternal grant him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him."
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
