Blessed be the Memory
Floyd Olson Scharlemann
August 14, 1936 – January 22, 2026
Our baptized brother, Floyd Olson Scharlemann, claimed the promise of his baptism earlier this afternoon somewhat unexpectedly. Floyd had been in rehab after taking a pretty bad fall just before Christmas.
Floyd Olson Scharlemann, beloved child of God
Upon news of Floyd’s death, PScott gathered with family at Boulder Canyon Rehab for prayers, the singing of the Nunc Dimittis, and a final blessing and benediction with the sealing of the cross. Floyd was predeceased by his bride Phyllis in 2024 and son Brad in 2019.
Floyd was a wonderful singer, using his gifts to sing in the Chancel Choir for many years. He had a great sense of humor, always cheering everyone on in their journey of faith. He had deep Lutheran roots and now rests in the promise of his baptism.
The Valley of Hope Spire is tolling 89 times this afternoon, announcing the death of Floyd to the greater community.
We surround Floyd’s children, Brad, Bryce, Michelle, and their families, with the words of Jesus from John’s Gospel, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Floyd now rests from his labors in the promise of paradise and the resurrection to come.
Blessed be the Memory of Floyd Olson Scharlemann.
“Rest eternal, grant him O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.”
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
