Our beloved sister in Christ, Jetta Groff Baker claimed the promise of her baptism yesterday afternoon, August the 13th in the year of our Lord 2026.

Originally from Texas, Jetta came to Colorado in 1963 and loved reading, exploring National Parks, caring for animals (both big and small!), as well as cheering local sports teams, especially the Broncos and Nuggets. Along with Petey, Jetta joined LCHope in 2012 coming from Rejoice Lutheran in Erie. Up until just a few years ago, she was a faithful crucifer in worship, attended Bible study, had been a confirmation mentor, as well as generously advocating for our social outreach and caring ministries. She had a smile and laugh that was contagious and made you feel loved and cared for.
The Valley of Hope Spire will toll Saturday morning announcing Jetta’s death to the greater community. We surround Petey along with many friends claiming the words of the Apostle Paul written in Romans chapter 8: “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Jetta now rests in the promise of her baptism, in the arms of God’s love and grace. Any further liturgy information will be provided in the days ahead. Blessed be the Memory of Jetta Groff Baker.
