Blessed be the Memory
Colonel Lloyd (Lew) Leslie Moir, Jr., USAF (Retired)
January 19, 1936 – February 12, 2026
Lloyd “Lew” Leslie Moir, Jr., our brother in Christ, claimed the promise of his baptism last evening after a brief journey with Interstitial Lung Disease while in hospice care. Lew was anointed with the commendation of the dying rite this past Monday, and shortly after his death, PScott gathered with family for prayers and remembrances.
Lloyd “Lew” Leslie Moir, Jr., beloved child of God
Retired from the United States Air Force, Lew served valiantly in several stateside assignments as well as deployments overseas in Japan and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Lew worked for IBM, which included time spent in England before settling in Broomfield, Colorado. Lew impacted the Broomfield community with his gifts of leadership, strategic thinking, and faith, being actively involved in Rotary, the Broomfield Veteran’s Museum, the Broomfield Community Foundation, and Lutheran Church of Hope. Among the varied roles Lew served at LCHope included two terms as President, as well as Financial Management Chair, Strategic Planning Chair, usher, Chair of Building Finance, and countless other roles he served.
The Valley of Hope Spire will toll 90 times today, announcing to the community Lew’s death. LCHope surrounds Lew’s children, Lisa and Scot, and their families as they walk in the valley of the shadow of death. We are reminded by the 23rd Psalmist that amidst that valley, our Shepherd is there walking with us, protecting and comforting us. We remember Jesus weeping at the grave of his dear friend Lazarus and Jesus’ words from John 14, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Lew now rests in that promise of resurrection, being joined to that promise in his baptism long ago.
Details on Lew’s Liturgy of Resurrection will be planned in the days ahead, and the community will be informed through Anchor emails and social media.
We surround Scot and Lisa, and their families, as well as the many in the Broomfield community who knew Lew, with the hope we proclaim in Jesus, which is indeed the steadfast anchor of our souls.
Blessed be the memory of Lloyd “Lew” Leslie Moir, Jr.
“Rest eternal, grant him O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.”
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
