BHF | Prayers for the Week of August 11

An Opportunity for Prayer

A faithful group gathered in the Chapel of the Crosses on Sunday, August 10th for prayer before our holy communion liturgy. The focus was on prayer for the Building Hope for the Future project and staying grounded in listening for God's plan in the midst of our own plans.

The leadership of the combined Building/Organ/Finance Teams volunteered some of their concerns and joys to be included in the daily devotions of the congregation. The group that attended also shared some prayer petitions for the ongoing project. You are invited to add the petitions below to your daily prayer life. Prayer is a powerful tool, especially when many voices are raised with common purpose.

Building Hope for the Future

Proverbs 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

  * We pray for our organ – that as it is built, it will be crafted with the same love and grace it will bring to people’s lives when the notes and pipes are played.

 * We pray with thankfulness for absolutely gifted people who bring all of their creativity to this project, who inspire collaboration and enthusiasm, and who collectively make Building Hope for the Future a viable project.

 * We pray for overflowing measures of patience as the phases of this project take longer than we wish they would.

* We pray for wisdom in making really important decisions that will affect the congregation for years into the future.

*  We pray for frequent, open and ongoing communication to congregation regarding both progress and pitfalls as the project moves forward.

*  We pray for good relationships and satisfying collaborations for all committees, contractors, leadership and everyone involved.

*  We pray for our continuing efforts in mission and outreach beyond our physical walls to touch the lives of others in our community.  We pray that many more will be moved to join us in mission, in worship, and in faith-building for God’s kingdom, regardless of the state of our physical space.

*  We pray the efforts of the Building Team are appreciated throughout the intensive design details phase of this project, and that their attention to the innumerable requirements and details will inspire enthusiasm and trust within the congregation and beyond.

* We pray for our staff beginnings – that we will be challenged, nurtured, loved, and grow in faith by their presence and leadership here.
