Worship Assistants

Whether you enjoy being front and center during worship or like to work behind the scenes, there are more than 11 areas of service that you can get involved in during worship at LCHope. Acolytes, crucifers, communion assistants, lectors, ushers, prayer ministers and greeters all help out during the service, when all the action is taking place. A/V ministers, sacristans, and the nave cleaning team all help prepare for the service and keep it running smoothly.

  • Confirmation and high school students are encouraged to participate in the service as acolytes. Acolytes light candles and assist during the offering and communion at regular and special services.

  • Assist the pastor during prayers, offering and communion.

  • Help run video cameras, live stream the worship service, take photos, or put your graphic design skills to work on church advertisements.

  • Count the offering each week, help make deposits and post data to our books.

  • Carry the processional cross, leading the congregation into and out of worship.

  • Greet members and visitors as they arrive for worship. As a greeter, you are often the first person someone sees as they enter the church - first impressions are everything!

  • Read lessons from the Old and New Testament during the service.

  • A dedicated team comes in every week to remove old bulletins, sharpen pencils, and clean the pew areas in preparation for next Sundayโ€™s worship.

  • Be available during communion to offer personal prayers of thanksgiving, celebration, and/or concerns with members of the community.

  • Weekly prepare the altar and communion elements, assuring the space is kept beautiful and in good order. Sacristans also help with special servies such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals.

  • Help guide visitors to their seats during the service and help facilitate offering and communion.
